How Second Opinion collects, uses, and protects your information.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information Second Opinion collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect the minimum data needed to run the Service.
2. Information we collect
Account information you provide if you sign in (such as email and display name, or the basic profile Google or Apple shares if you sign in with them), your name and email if you join the Premium waitlist or our email updates, usage information (such as which pages and forecasts you view, collected through Google Analytics as described below), and technical information (such as device type and approximate region derived from your IP address for compliance). We do not collect payment card numbers directly; any billing is handled by a third-party processor.
3. How we use information
We use your information to operate and improve the Service, remember your preferences (such as the teams you follow), maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and communicate with you about the Service, such as telling you when Premium opens if you asked us to. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
4. Market and signal data
The market prices and external signals we analyze come from public sources and third-party providers. This is not your personal data, but how we combine it with your usage is covered by this policy.
5. Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service (such as hosting, analytics, and payment processing), when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public. Our hosting, sign-in and email run on Amazon Web Services. These providers are bound to use the data only for the services they provide us. Our analytics provider is Google (see Cookies and analytics).
6. Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site, such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and roughly where they are. It sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_<id>) to tell visits apart, and Google receives your IP address, browser and device details, and the pages you view. We use this only to measure and improve the site, not for advertising. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The site also saves a few preferences in your browser's local storage (such as your theme and the teams you follow); these stay on your device.
7. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law. See our Disclaimer page for a summary of specific retention windows.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise these rights by contacting us. You can also close your account at any time, and opt out of analytics as described in Cookies and analytics.
10. International users
The Service may be operated from, and your information may be processed in, jurisdictions other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will revise the date above when we do. Questions or requests can be sent to privacy@thesecond.app.
